SSBB Charizard

After months of building, Charizard is finally complete!

The process started about 2 years ago when I completed Mario (which you can see here) and I was looking for my next project. Charizard seemed as good as any, and I made good progress on the 3D and even built the head, but what really held me back was the predicament of the fire tail. I eventually became resolved to build in an incendiary, light it on fire, and get one good pic. But as it became clear Charizard would be far too much effort to build to be worth lighting on fire, I abandoned the project and gave away the head I had built. Skip 2 years ahead. I've been on a bit of a papercraft hiatus for almost a year due to the limitations of my college dorm. Having moved into a house and having the room and time to work on papercraft again, I wanted to work on a big project. I found my old Charizard files, which miraculously survived, and began work. The template design was straightforward enough; the feet, arms, tail, wings and head are all built separately, which has the benefit of making closing ends unnecessary. Then you simply need to add the body parts to the tail and build out from there, adding the pieces as you go. In this way, building Charizard was not altogether difficult; it was just a very long process for he is quite large about 3 ft)! You can see some pictures taken during the building process on my deviantart here: here and here

Stay tuned for more photos from the outdoor shoot, as well as studio shots and the template release!
